Russian Revolution
Many Russians were unhappy with Czar Nicholass II, because they believed that it was pointless for him to drag Russia into the war. After failing to get Russia out of the war, he was dethroned in 1917, and was replaced by a provisional government, which consisted of wealthy citizens such as bankers, lawyers, and businessmen. It was a weak government and it failed to meet the needs of the Russian people. It was then taken over by Vladirmir Lenin and the Bolsheviks. Lenin promised the Russian citizens food, jobs, and more power, thus beginning the Soviet Union.
After being dethroned, Czar Nicholas II and his family were sent away and were watched over by the government. Lenin felt Czar Nicholas II to be a threat to his power, so he ordered for them to be executed. What really happened is still unknown, but their bodies were finally recovered in 1979.
